The probation process is a formal process which enables both the new employee and their line manager to meet and establish the expectations of the employee holding the new role. During the probation period, clear goals should be set and laid out as per the requirements of the role. All goals should be clearly communicated at the beginning of the probationary period and should allow for the new employee to demonstrate their suitability for the role throughout the duration of the set period. The line manager may be responsible for providing additional support and ensuring proper communication throughout, in addition to monitoring performance appropriately.
