The Staff Review and Development Scheme applies to all staff groups [with the exception of Contract Research Staff where separate arrangements exist (career management)]; namely academic, academic-related and support staff (Technicians, Administration and Manual). The Department's scheme has been drawn up to meet the University requirements and the aims of the scheme are to:

  • provide an opportunity for positive and constructive two-way review of work progress;
  • allow agreement of an action plan;
  • provide for discussion of training needs for the member of staff's current role and career development;
  • allow for identification and discussion of difficulties or obstacles to effectiveness;
  • provide a way of balancing personal needs and ambitions with the University's overall objectives.

The scheme does not replace good management practice, nor will it be used as a disciplinary tool or a means of determining pay. Staff in line for a review for the current academic term will be contacted by the HR Office along with their supervisors.
