The Staff Review and Development Scheme applies to Academic-related and Support staff (Technicians, Administration and Manual). Please note there are separate arrangements for Contract Research Staff and Academic Staff (career management/ discussions). The Department's SRD scheme has been drawn up to meet the University requirements and will allow the Department to provide more opportunities for staff development so as that we can continue to grow a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.

Staff review and development can benefit the Department and individuals in many ways and the aims of the scheme are to:

  • Provide an opportunity to reflect on our achievements, set new goals, and identify areas for growth (including training requirements).
  • Provide clarification of responsibilities and expectations.
  • Provide a chance to clarify and record future career plans and aspirations.
  • Provide the Department with a better mechanism for planning training, identifying any significant trends, and addressing any concerns.

The scheme does not replace good management practice, nor will it be used as a disciplinary tool or a means of determining pay. Staff who are due for a review during the current academic year will be contacted by the HR Office along with their supervisors.
