The Department employs around 400 postdoctoral contract research staff and hosts around 300 visitors/embedded researchers. The HR Team for Research Staff and Visitors take care of contract research staff recruitment and employment. This ranges from making job offers and assisting with visa applications, to tracking sick leave and advising on parental leave arrangements.
Most contract research staff are employed on short term contracts in grant-funded research projects before they move on to other projects or teaching posts within or outside the University.
