Employing Research Staff
The Researcher and Visitor team takes care of advertisements and offers of employment for contract research staff.
Before you start your recruitment of contract research staff, please download and read the Guidance Notes for Recruitment of Contract Research Staff. For examples of how to complete all the recruitment forms please view the Example Recruitment Pack. All forms are available at the bottom of this page.
- The Request to Advertise form should be completed and returned electronically to the Researcher and Visitor team at: hr-research@eng.cam.ac.uk
- If you have any queries, please contact your divisional administrator in the first instance. They can be contacted via e-mail at the following addresses: div-a@eng.cam.ac.uk / div-b@eng.cam.ac.uk div-c@eng.cam.ac.uk / div-d@eng.cam.ac.uk / div-e@eng.cam.ac.uk / div-f@eng.cam.ac.uk
- Do not make an offer of employment to the chosen candidate before consulting the Researcher and Visitor HR team for a preliminary discussion about the proposed engagement.
- After this, the Request to Appoint form and all other recruitment documents should be completed and returned to: hr-research@eng.cam.ac.uk
- All recruitment documents (interview and shortlisting notes, HR6 selection criteria and any other additional materials you have used in the selection process; references; candidate's highest qualification to date in English; HR4 (if necessary); certified passport) should be sent with the Request to Appoint by email to hr-research@eng.cam.ac.uk.

Working Visas
To determine whether an applicant requires a visa to work in the UK please visit the GOV.uk website at: https://www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa
The Researcher and Visitor HR team will assist in the application for Certificates of Sponsorship for Skilled Worker Visas and Tier 5 working visas.
TES (Temporary Employment Service)
Employment through TES must be viewed as a short term measure only (9 months or less). If you are considering employing someone through TES, please contact the Research and Visitor HR team first. You will then be required to complete the TES Funding Details Form (below) and return it electronically to the team at: hr-research@eng.cam.ac.uk
